About this event

Join the fictional Elijah Puddlephat and his nemesis, Mr Charles Dickens, on a unique tour back in time.

The story goes...Elijah Puddlephat was born and bred in Dickens Country. He claims to be Medway's second most famous novelist, but who's ever heard of him?!

Elijah firmly denies any feelings of jealousy towards Mr Dickens, describing their relationship as a healthy rivalry.

So hop aboard our Dickensian Christmas bus where Elijah will take you on a fascinating journey back to the 19th century.

The bus route

You'll visit some of Dickens' most loved places and the inspiration behind some of his masterpieces. There will be plenty of fun facts and questions along the way too.

  • Stop off at one of Dickens' favourite haunts, The Leather Bottle Inn.
  • Visit Gad's Hill where Dickens was told if he "were to be very persevering and work very hard" he might one day live there.
